Resolution 5259 - Speed Limit - Reserve Loop RoadwayRESOLUTION NO, 5259 A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH AND POST SPEED LIMITS ON NEW RESERVE LOOP ROADWAY AND TO SET AN EFFECTIVE HATE WHEREAS, in 2007 the Montana Department of Transportation completed the new roadway named Reserve Loop in the City of Kalispell located in Section 36 between the Stillwater Road Roundabout and the intersection of US 93 and Hutton Ranch Drive; and WHEREAS, the Montana Department of Transportation will present its recommendation of a speed limit at 45 miles per hour for approval to the State Highway Commission at a future meeting at which time the speed limit for Reserve Loop will be officially adopted; and WHEREAS, Montana lave allows a municipality to adopt slower speed limits within school zones adjacent to schools; and WHEREAS, because of the general congestion and school activities associated with the facility it is in the best interests of public safety to require reduced speeds on Reserve Loop adjacent to Glacier High School. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That portion of Reserve Loop roadway approximately adjacent to Glacier High School shall be subject to a speed restriction of ten miles per hour less than the speed restriction adopted by the State Highway Commission for the rest of Reserve Loop. SECTION II. Upon receiving notice of the speed limit set by the State Highway Commission the City Manager shall direct the Department of Public Works to prepare and erect the necessary signage to advise the driving public of the above -described speed restrictions.
