Dear Mayor Rauthe and Members of the City Council:
I am writing you on behalf of Friends of the Kalispell City Airport, Inc. We are a group
of pilots and local citizens interested in making improvements to the Kalispell City
Airport. Our aim is to hold fund raising events that will realize a profit. These earnings
would then be directed toward the City to be applied to an improvement on the Kalispell
City Airport property. We are interested in obtaining authorization from the City Council
to hold our first fund raising event on city property.
We are pursuing the use of the area west of the airport runway, between Eagle Aviation
and Stockhill Aviation. For reference, I understand that Gardner Auction is currently
using the area of interest, for the display of their trailer sales.
We wish to occupy the above described location for set-up, starting on Saturday morning
of July 22, 1995. We will be conducting our event from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. We will
conduct our clean-up immediately following the event.
The fund raiser will be billed as the Kalispell Micro Brew Festival. Participants will be
offered food, music, and draft beer. We intend to limit ticket sales to 800 adults.
We anticipate the Council's concerns involving the service of alcohol on city property.
We are addressing the provision of adequate insurance. We will also be employing off -
duty law enforcement officers for crowd control and the direction of traffic. Additionally,
we intend to secure the area with temporary fencing. We stand prepared to allay any other
concerns or meet any other requirements that you might have regarding this matter.
We respectfully request that you take this matter up at your next meeting, that we might
proceed with the selection of an appropriate site for our event. We hope that you will act
favorably on this request.

Dear Doug:
The Kalispell Area Chamber of Commerce encourages you to support the efforts of the Friends of
the Kalispell City Airport in sponsoring a Micro Brew Festival on City Airport property July 22.
Their attempt to raise funds to assist with improvements to the airport is honorable and appears to
be well planned with security personnel and event insurance much as we do for our air shows at
Glacier Park International Airport.
