03/28/66 SP City Council Minutesz 1 SPECIAL MEETING A Special Meeting of the Kalispell City Council was held March 28, 1966 at 7:30 P. M. in accordance with the following notice given and acknowledged. TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNCILMEN CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA Gentlemen: There will be a Special Meeting of the City Council Monday, March 28, 1966 at 7:30 P. M. for the following purpose_.. Discussion of Library Financing. Presentation of consideration to provide enough library funds to meet State requirement for College. Discussion presented by Owen Sowerwine. We, the undersigned, being all of the members of the City Council, do hereby waive notice of the date and purpose of the Special Meeting of the City Council to be held Monday, March 28, 1966 at 7:30 P. M., and consent to the transaction of the above and any other business that may properly come before the Council. ATTEST: George Beardslee T. R. Flynn City Clerk Mayor Lawrence G. All other Councilmen present. Mayor Flynn presented an agreement for Public Works Plan Preparation from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. An agreement whereby the Federal Government offers to make an advance not to exceed $9,000.00 for preliminary planning for sanitary sewer facilities. Councilman W. Roberts moved adoption of Resolution #2580 authorizing Mayor Flynn to execute the agreement with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to secure $9,000.00 for preliminary plan preparation for sanitary sewer facilities. SecorWed bly Roc n ro 1 ca vote all Councilmen voted for adoption. Councilman O'Brien, Library Committee, reported on the progress of Library cons©lidation up to the present time. Owen Sowerwine reported on an offer by the University at Missoula to establish a branch of the University in Kalispell and that the only requirement made by the University was that $25,000.00 be made available for Library Acquisitiom. Councilman O'Brien moved the City Council endorse the proposal of Glacier College providing for the consolidation of the City and County Libraries in the Old Post Office Building, in cooperation with School District #5, but with the express understanding that the City Mill Levy will not exceed 3/4 of a Mill.per year. Seconded by Councilman Roche. All Councilmen present voted for adoption. Councilman Roche moved for adjournment. Seconded by Homuth and carried...
