A regular meeting of the Kalispell City Council was held July 10, 1967,
at 7:30 P_V. in the Council Chambers with Mayor Bjorneby presiding.
All councilmen were present.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on July 5, 1967, were read and
approved as read on motion of Council!.ian "iron. Seconded by Councilman
Happ and carried.
Open Bids on Sidewalks and Curbs:

Councilman Roberts moved acceptance of I_he bid of Tru-Nix Concrete Com-
pany for the construction of sidewalks and curbs from July 17, 1967, to
June 30, 1969. Seconded by Councilman Hensley and carried.
Open Bids on Wood for Swimming_Pool:
No bids were received.
Hearing on Petition to Close Street & Alley:
No protests received.
Councilman Roche roved adoption of Resolution No. 2630 - a resolution
vacating and discontinuing a portion of 4th Avenue West and the alley sit-
uated in Block 91. Seconded by Councilman Hensley. Roll Call Vote. Coun-
cilman Roche voted No. All others voted Aye. Resolution adopted.
Addressing the Council:
Councilman Roberts read a copy of a petition requesting that Lot 1,
Block A. Lots 1, 2, 3, Block 1 and Lots 1 thru 23 of Block 2 of Northridge
Heights Addition be zoned Zone 1 Residential. Councilman Roberts moved the
City Attorney do what is necessary to rezone these lots to Zone 1 Residen-
tial. Seconded by Councilman Roche and carried.
Committee Reports:
Safety - Councilman 11 ron reported the Committee has met with repre-
sentatives of the Fire Department concerning wages. Considered, were wage
Increases and extending the 1% increment to service of r-iiore than 20 years.
At present, firemen receive increment for their first 20 years service,
but do not receive any increment for service past the 20th year.
Councilman Ytron reported the Safety Committee is working to have old
buildings that present a hazard torn down or burned down. The Committee
plans to keep a list of the 1110 most wanted buildings to be removed." Fire
?Marshall Gene Thompson reported on Liie progress being made in the removal
of some of the old buildings.
Councilman Riley moved adoption of Ordinance No. 742 - an ordinance
repealing Section 19-22 of the Kalispell City Code. Seconded by Councilman
O'Brien. Roll Call Vote. All voted Aye.

Councilman McCormick reported the Employment Committee has met with
representatives of the A`unicipal Employees Union. Further meetings with
Union representatives are to be held.
Councilman Happ reported that there are areas in the City where weeds
need mowing. Fire Chief Tillson reported that weed mowing would be initiated
In the near future.
Finance - Councilman Hensley reported the claims for June have been
audited and approved for payment. The Committee has met with representa-
tives of the Police Department regarding wages. Councilman Hensley moved
acceptance of the report. Seconded by Councilman Roche and carried.
Councilman Roberts moved adoption of Resolution No. 2631 - a resolu-
tion of intention to extend the corporate limits. Seconded by Councilman
Hensley. Roll Call Vote. All voted Aye.
Parks & Recreation - Councilman Roche reported that the Corunittee has
had a discussion with Leo Shepherd concerning the lease of the old depot-
building to Flathead Valley Community College. It was recommended that
the City consider a 1-year lease with Flathead Valley Community College.
Councilman Riley moved the City contract with ":ontana Power Company
for a heating plant for the old depot building, and that the City lease the
old depot building to Flathead Valley Community College for a sum not to
exceed $200.00 per month. Seconded by Councilman Roche and carried.
Parks - Councilman Roche reported the new chlorinator for the swimming
pool is now being installed.

Councilman Roberts moved acceptance of the City Official Reports.

tions. Seconded by Councilman Riley and carried.

Councilman Miron moved acceptance of the City Official Bonds for Ted
W. Waggener and Una J. McNillan. Seconded by Councilman McCormick and car-
ried.
Correspondence:
A letter from Robert Clark, City -County Planning Consultant, was read
by Mayor Bjorneby.
Petition for Street Light:
A petition was read for the installation of a 7,000 lumen street light
to be installed at the intersection of loth Street East and 3rd Alley in
Block 123. Councilman O'Brien moved the City order the installation of a
street light at this location. Seconded by Councilman McCormick and car-
ried.
