04/28/80 City Council MinutesA PUBLIC HEARING ON APPLICATION FOR GAMING LICENSE WAS HELD AT 2:00 P.M. MONDAY,
APRIL 28, 1980 IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT CITY HALL. MAYOR HAPP PRESIDED. THOSE
PRESENT WERE COUNCILMEN DALEY, GRANMO, GRAINGER, CITY ATTORNEY DONAHUE AND POLICE
CHIEF STEFANIC.
The hearing was on the application for a gaming license of Arthur A. and Sandra L.
Lindlief, owners of The Hindquarter, 1301 Highway # 93 South.
Mayor Happ asked if there was anyone wishing to protest the application. No one
responded.
Mayor Happ asked if there was anyone wishing to speak for the application. Mr.
Lindlief stated he is expecting Red McQuade to operate the gambling. He is the
inventor of a game called "fun poker". This form of gambling has been called legal
by the County Attorney. They have one table in Columbia Heights and will start with
one table at The Hind Quarter. If it istisuccessful, another table may be added
later. He added that he has two persons checking ID's to be certain no one under
the age of 19 is drinking and no one under the age of 18 is gambling.
Councilman Grainger moved to approve the gaming license for The Hind Quarter.
Seconded by Councilman Daley. Motion carried.
City Attorney Donahue cautioned Mr. Lindlief to have Mr. McQuade read the gambling
regulations.
There being no further business to come before the Gambling Committee, the meeting
adjourned.
