PRELIMINARY BUDGET MEETING
THE KALISPELL CITY COUNCIL HELD THE PRELIMINARY BUDGET MEETING IN THECOMMUNITY
ROOM OF THE CONRAD NATIONAL BANK AT 7:30 P.M., JULY 24, 1974. MAYOR BJORNEBY
PRESIDED. COUNCILMEN SAMPSON AND THOMAS ABSENT. ALL OTHER COUNCILMEN AMID
COUNCILMAN -ELECT HAARR PRESENT.

Superior Coach and Truck Sales representative stated that there would be no
charge for painting if it is painted one color without trim.
Councilman Miron moved the ambulance bid be referred to the safety committee
with power to act. Seconded by Councilman Schwartz. Carried.

CAPITAL
Councilman Sliter moved the Capital Improvement Reserve be divided at 2 mills for
Street Equipment Reserve and 1 mill for Fire Truck Reserve. Seconded by Councilman
Miron. Tie Vote. Mayor Bjorneby voted nay. Motion failed.

Councilman Miron moved the Capital Improvement Reserve be divided at 2 mills for
Fire Truck Reserve and 1 mill for Street Equipment Reserve. Seconded by Councilman
Schwartz. Carried.
PARKING COMMISSION -
Councilman Miron moved to reduce the parking commission budget $12,000.00. Seconded
by Councilman Happ. Carried.
POLICE JUDGE BUDGET -
Councilmen agreed that Police Judge Budget be changed as follows:
6:30 Utilities-$600.00
6.46 Misc. - Jurors +300.00
6.50 C. 0. - Equip. +300.00
POLICE JUDGE APPLICATION. -
Councilman Miron submitted the application of Robert C. Nau for Police Judge
position.
Councilman discussed advantages and disadvantages of having the second motor maid.
Councilman -elect Haarr suggested that parking meter budget should be reduced to
anticipated revenue. Parking motor revenue was explained. Action on second motor
maid was deferred.
Request was made by Chief Waggoner for vacation man for a full year and a new
police car - approximately additional $9,000.00. Now police car quoted at $4167.
or 2 care for $8334. (Chevelle) Checker car for $5517. Councilman Miron spoke
against additional man. Action on car deferred.
SET PRELIMINARY BUDGET
Councilmen Slater moved preliminary budget be set as follows:
' General Fund = 51 Mills;
Police Pension 3 Mills;
Fireman Relief - 4 Mills;
Capital Improv. - 3 Mills - Fire Truck Reserve, 2 Mills,
Street Equip. Reserve, 1 Mill;
a total of 61 Mille and directed publication of notice.
Meeting re until August 7th.
