Mayor Bjerneby reported Frank Stein has been terminated as probationary fireman.
Mayor Bjerneby appointed David Mayhew as probationary fireman for a six month
period beginning July 1, 19719 and requested council approval. Councilman
Rogers moved approval of the six-month probationary appointment of David Mayhew
as fireman effective July 19 1971. Seconded by Councilman Schwartz. Carried,
City Engineer McClintick reported the Storm Sewer Project on First Avenue Best
being completed. Also plans to begin the fill at the dry bridge.

THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KALISPELL CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD JULY 12, 1971,
IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF CITY HALL AT 7:30 P. M. MAYOR BJORMEBY PRESIDED.
ALL COUNCILMEN WERE PRESENT.
READING'OF MINUTES
Minutes of the regular meeting of July b, 1971 were read. Councilman Schwartz
moved approval of the minutes as read. Seconded by Councilman Rogers. Carried.
CITY OFFICIAL REPORTS
Clerk - Treasurer for May
Police Judge - Police Chief - Sanitarian - City Engineer for June
Councilman Miron moved acceptance of the City Official Reports. Seconded by
Councilman Happ. Carried.
ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL
Mr. Les Kjos requested annexation of property and presented a petition for
annexation. Annexation committee to report on this when they present their
committee report.
Police Chief Waggener requested permission to send patrolman to recruit school
In Bozeman, August 1 through 13th. Councilman Thomas moved Chief Waggener be
granted permission to send patrolman to recruit school in Bozeman August I through
13th. Seconded by Councilman Rogers. Carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Parks - Councilman O'Brien - New diving boards have been ordered for the
swimming pool. The new diving boards will meet AAU regulations.
Finance - Councilman Slater - The committee has requested information from
department heads regarding determination of charges to customers for work done
by the city.

Sewer & Water - Councilman Miron - The council as a committee of the whole met
this afternoon with representatives of Stably & Barrington Engineering firm of
-Selena to.hear their presentation regarding Comprehensive Sewer -Water Study for
Kalispell.
Councilman Miron requested committee chairmen meet with department heads to -
preview budget requests prior to the July 19th budget session.
Safety - Councilman Thomas - The committee met with Fire Chief Peters regarding
the possibility of securing a new second ambulance. A meeting is to be held
with a representative of the Montana Highway Traffic Division to determine the
possibility of obtaining a federal grant to aid in the purchase of a new
ambulance.
Fire Chief Peters requests permission to take vacation time the last week of
July. Councilman Thomas moved Fire Chief Peters be granted permission to take
vacation time beginning July 25th. Seconded by Councilman Miron. Carried.
Annexation - Councilman Schwartz - A petition requesting annexation of property
owned by Mr. Les Kjos has been received and the committee recommends the
annexation of the property. Councilman Schwartz moved adoption of Resolution No.
2811, A Resolution - lot,to Extend the Limits of the City of Kalispell,
Montana. Seconded by Councilman Miron. Roll Call Vote. All Voted Aye.
Employment - Councilman Daley - The committee will be meeting with representatives
of the union as soon after the July 19th budget session as possible.
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
Councilman O'Brien moved the August 2nd council meeting be postponed to August
4th. Seconded by Councilman Bapp. Carried.
Councilman Miron reported the council as a committee of the whole had met
following the July Bth council meeting to hear proposal of Wenzel Engineers
for the Comprehensive Sewer -Water Study for Kalispell.
City Clerk Beardslee requested permission to attend the League of Cities and
Towns meeting in Glendive August 12 - 13- & 14, Councilman Thomas moved the
City Clerk, City Attorney, Police Chief, and two councilman be authorised to
attend the League of Cities and Towns meeting in Glendive 12-, 13-, & 14 Aug..
that travel by private transportation be authorised. Seconded by Councilman
Miron. Carried.
Councilman O'Brien moved adjournment. Seconded by Councilman Bapp. Carried.
