PLANNING FOP, THE FtTMRE Q Date: March 17, 2009 To: Kalispell Planning Board From: Sean Conrad, Senior Planner Re: South Kalispell Airport Redevelopment Plan Planning Department 201 V Avenue East Kalispell, MT 59901 Phone: (406) 758-7940 Fax: (406) 758-7739 www.kalisDell.com/nlanning On February 17, 2009 the Kalispell City Council approved Resolution No. 5340 directing the community development department and planning department to prepare and assist the planning board in the review of the South Kalispell Airport Redevelopment Plan. The planning board would conduct a public hearing and provide a recommendation to the city council. This is a similar process to the Downtown Core Area Plan review you just completed. The draft South Kalispell Airport Redevelopment Plan is attached. During your March 24th work session the planning department would like you to decide if the redevelopment plan boundaries should be reduced, with the area shown on the South Kalispell Redevelopment Planning Area located south of Kelly Road on the east side of Highway 93 removed from the redevelopment planning area. The new redevelopment plan area is attached titled "Revised South Kalispell Redevelopment Planning Area". The request to revise the redevelopment planning area boundaries is from the Community Development Director and Airport Director. Reasons for removing this area from the redevelopment plan include: A copy of the memo received by the planning department from the Community Development Director and Airport Director are attached. When the planning board determines the most appropriate boundary property owners within the boundary area would be sent a letter notifying them of the upcoming workshop to discuss the South Kalispell Airport Redevelopment Plan in more detail after your regular meeting of April 14th. After the planning board work session, the next step would be for the planning board to hold a public hearing. The Airport Director is requesting that the planning board consider holding a public hearing on the South Kalispell Airport Redevelopment Plan on April 28th. This date is scheduled as a work session and it is up to the planning board whether you would like to hold a public hearing on this date. Otherwise, the public hearing would be scheduled for your regular meeting on May 12f.
