SUBJECT: South Kalispell/Airport Redevelopment Plan
On May 15, 2009, the State of Montana in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration released
the results of an Economic Impact Study conducted on selected airports in Montana during 2008. The
results of that study showed that the Kalispell City Airport is a huge "economic engine" for our
community, funding our Hospitals, Schools, Police, Fire and other Services. We all know that after
completing the 93 South highway project with a new four lane thoroughfare, with curbs, gutters, sidewalks,
trees, and boulevards, the development interest switched to the north side of Kalispell. However, we all
know that the south end is the major entrance into Kalispell and it is critical to the impression "first timers"
get when arriving in our city.
As manager of the Kalispell City Airport, Mr. Leistiko is about to embark on a major redevelopment plan
to modernize and upgrade our airport. There is a lot that can be accomplished along with this airport
redevelopment plan. The entire corridor of the south entrance of Kalispell should be a part of this
redevelopment initiative. As evidenced by recent zoning changes and approvals for the Prerelease Center,
our voices or concerns will be heard if we have an organization to voice them.
As a business owner and/or a home owner, you have a big investment in south Kalispell and should have a
lot of interest in how south Kalispell will be developed or redeveloped. So, we are inviting you to come to
an informational meeting to discuss some of the following topics and any other areas of interest or
concerns:

We will be asking the City to have a representative from the Planning Department and the Community
Development Department present to answer questions or take information back to their departments.
