GUESTS: James Freyholtz, M.D.O.T.; and Toby McIntosh, Jackola Engineering.
HEAR THE PUBLIC: None.
PERFORMANCE BOND REMINDERS: None.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: Auto Zone — 130 West Idaho — old King's Buffet building and old brick
building (formerly a BBQ Hut and before that, a seamstress shop). They are tearing down the
building and the house behind it and replacing it all with an approximate 7,300 sq. ft. building just
off the alley, towards the north of the lot. They will keep the existing sign pole. No access
directly onto Idaho, but two off of 2nd Street WN, along with one access off of the alley. They
plan on doing a substantial amount of landscaping off of Idaho, and will also be putting in a bike
rack. Clawson suggested they petition the City to abandon the alley between Cenex and Auto
Zone. This is scheduled for Architectural Review.
Costco — 2330 Hwy 93 N; new propane gas dispensing structure — they installed a new propane
tank, and are putting in a carport -like structure that would go over that and will take up
approximately six parking spaces in front of the tire shop. It's not close to a property line, it's
internal to the site, and it's not interfering with their traffic flow. This was approved through Site
Review subject to Fire and Parks approvals.
PLANNING OFFICE ITEMS: No projects for the June meeting.
OTHER REPORTS: Park Side Credit Union — Sunset Blvd and Hwy 93 N; revised parking
layout and additional drive-thru lane. They have two drive-thru lanes. Toby McIntosh from Jackola
Engineering presented a possible way of adding a third lane. He's looking for our comments at this
point. This came in previously in 2002, and at that time they were right up against their parking
requirements. With the number of required parking spaces for banks and financial institutions having
dropped, they are looking to add the third lane in the alley and make it a parallel parking area. They
also want to add some spaces where the existing drive-thru ATM is located. They would get rid of
the approach off the highway. They are reducing the impervious area, taking out the old island and
putting in a new one. The ATM would move to the third drive-thru. The new plan would bring in
three new parking spaces where the cutoff at the corner used to be. The parking spaces will back into
the right of way on Nevada, but the cut through would no longer be there. He is also looking for the
stormwater requirements. They plan to make the sidewalk wider where the handicapped space is
located. They may also put in a bike rack, and there will be some landscaped area. They will need to
check with the Fire Department for their input, also. They may want to extend their canopy.
Buffalo Hill Golf Course — Flooding areas were discussed. Also, the starter shacks and bathrooms
are being built, and all the impact fees were paid.
U.S. and Canadian Flags — A request to display a flag on Main Street. There needs to be an 8'
clearance underneath it when it is hanging over the sidewalk. Freyholtz will check with MDOT's
Maintenance Chief to be sure there are no further standards.
Syke's Permit — They have the shell for the structure and nothing as far as the interior. They need to
still work out binding the properties together. They haven't come in to schedule their water tap yet,
and they need to provide Public Works with some other things before that can be scheduled.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 a.m.
