RE: Kalispell City Airport - Engineering Selection (5)Myrt: Robert Peccia & Associates has been our engineer on the airport project for some time now. Since it has taken so long to mitigate the towers, the FAA (Gates) evidently contacted RPA about going through the engineer selection process again to bring it up to date as they think we might be moving forward on the project soon and they want everything in order. There are three or four firms who would like the job, I'm sure. All the basic work has been done by RPA over the last few years. The inactivity has probably put the engineering work up for grabs again. I will talk to the FAA about it for sure. Fred A. Leistiko Airport Manager City of Kalispell P.O. Box 1997 Kalispell, MT 59903 406-250-3065 From: Rick Donaldson [mailto:rick@RPA-HLN.COM] Sent: Monday, July 27, 2009 5:44 PM To: Gary Gates; Fred Leistiko Subject: Kalispell City Airport - Engineering Selection Gary, Thanks for the call today about the recent developments at Kalispell. In regards to your question about engineering selection, I went back through the files and have determined the following: RPA was last selected on April 16, 2003 for a five year period. I thought it was more recently because we had meetings about continued services with the Sponsor when Phil Porrini left RPA and we were in the process of signing additional engineering task orders. We have not signed any engineering contract task orders since July and August of 2007. As you suggested, it would be advisable for the Sponsor to go through the engineering selection process pretty soon to be prepared for any future engineering work that is, or would become, FAA eligible. Since Mr. Stokes appears to be teetering on the brink, they should start the process as soon a practical. The Sponsor may want to wait until they have their new City Manager in place. I was planning to offer to Fred that I help him brief the new City Manager once that person is on board about the airport history, planning, airspace, etc. Fred lets discuss what you think is the best for timing on your end. Of course we will be happy to put the advertisement together for you.
