Fw: MPA Update (2) * February 4 - Deadline for Comments regarding Kalispell City Airport - I'm sure that many of you have flown into the Kalispell City Airport located in downtown Kalispell. Jim Pierce with the Flathead Hangar of the MPA needs your help to maintain this airport and protect it from local activists attempting to shut down airport operations. Please read the following. You will find a link at the end of this document that, when clicked on, will enable you to send an email to the Kalispell City Council in support of the Kalispell City Airport. I will send you a copy of the email I just sent as an example of what we can and should do to maintain this airport for our use in the future. This isn't just about saving this airport for the "locals". Besides being a great place to fly into (if you have not done this, ask me about it sometime!), this airport, if closed by a band of self-serving locals, would set a precedent for future closing in our state and others. Our freedoms are just as important as those of these local residents. Your voice can help save Kalispell City and perhaps many other airports that you fly into to. Attached above is Jim's request. The Hangar of the Year Award (Prop) still needs a ride from Lewistown to either Helena, Missoula or Seeley Lake as soon as possible. It needs to be lettered and ready to present at the conference. Is anyone able to help with this? * The website is still a work in progress and some members have experienced some difficulties logging in to their information. (1) One problem is your email address may have been wrong in the old system and needs to be updated in the new website. You need to contact me or Will Stene to update that so you can log in. (2) Paying with PayPal has been confusing - after clicking Pay With CC, it takes you to the PayPal site where you need to click the really tiny, blue, continue below the pictures of credit cards. I have received messages for some members saying that payment was "submitted" but they are never completed. (3) Some members have evidently created new memberships instead of logging on to their old one. That is fine, but when I went in and deleted the old membership, I noticed that the password had been changed on the old membership but not the new one. Hopefully I caught the only one with that issue, but if you have problems let me know. (4) Another member kept getting a Page Cannot Be Found Message - let us know if you get anything like that. Will is working on archived articles from the old site and the photo gallery. Printable membership rosters for hangar officers has not been forgotten. I will try to send something out to you during this construction phase. We appreciate all of the time that Rob Duncan of Airbase1 has spent on this project. He has put in countless hours on this project and has personally donated over 50 hours of his time over and above our contract agreement. * Since I haven't mailed out membership renewals other than in the newsletter and via email, we are way behind on membership renewals for 2010. You have a very good chance to be drawn as the sweepstakes winner (a PLB) at the conference , March 6. I genuinely encourage you to renew your membership as soon as possible either online using a credit card or by mailing a check. Remember, your name is also added to the drawing additional times for each new member that you sponsor, even the Free 1st Year Solo Student members. * I apologize for some of you receiving multiple emails. I need to fix something and will ASAP. It will help alot if everyone goes online and makes sure their email address is correct. Thanks!
