RE: FCI computer program (8)Thanks for the information on the FCI Application. Is there any way to get a sample of a program that is in operation? I would like to see what printouts look like, ets. Does someone in NW Montana use the system so I could look at it in progress? Fred A. Leistiko Airport Manager City of Kalispell P.O. MSU distributes the FCI Application to be used "as is". The application is locked, and isn't modifiable by the people to whom we distribute it. It is an Access based program, so requires Microsoft Access (2007 is recommended). I hope that it will fit your needs. The application doesn't specifically track an appraised value, but does have replacement value, renewal cost, etc. When the application was designed, we were asked to develop something that could be used across the state of Montana. One important part of the project was to ensure that all organizations used an even playing field. To that end, the application was locked to prevent users from using their own creative pricing schemes. The prices and components in the application are updated every year or two by MSU Facilities staff. Pricing is based on RS Means data and calculations developed in-house. If you need further information as to how the prices are calculated, please let me know and I can provide you with a spreadsheet with further information. You may download the application free of charge from http://www.facilities.montana.edu/pdc/planning/FCIDownload/. Please see the troubleshooting tips on the page if you have any problems with the download, or feel free to call me. Thanks for your interest in the FCI Application. This project will be started from scratch and will include the total inventory of property and improvements owned by the City. It will also provide an area for listing suggested improvements and repairs to the structures in each area. I will have to do a gap analysis to determine what, when, and how long it will take to bring all assets up to par. The three costs will be current appraised value, replacement value, and the cost to bring the structure up to par. I was directed towards your Facilities Condition Inventory program as a possible model to use in developing this plan. My question is, Do you think your program can be modified to meet the format the City of Kalispell wants their Facilities Plan to look like? If so, I would sure like to work with a proven product rather than start from scratch. Is your plan based off of a Microsoft program? Outlook or something like it? Fred A.
