RE: Kalispell City Airport Question (3)Jeff: I gave Wade my binder from last year's Grant and Loan meeting with State Aeronautics. This show the financial condition of the 40+ airports that are trying to improve their facilities and shows how that is impossible without FAA assistance. I have, or you can probably get, the last few years documents from Jim Griell at Aeronautics. This will show the struggle of small community airports when it comes to improvements. If you do not have FAA funding, it is almost impossible. Fred A. Leistiko Airport Manager City of Kalispell P.O. Unfortunately, our experience is limited to Montana Airports. Hamilton has been the most controversial airport in the State for several years and has frequently been met with lots of opposition. I'll keep my ear to the ground and continue to inquire on other airports that you may want to contact. They have had significant community opposition and political unrest over the years and are our busiest GA airport in terms of based aircraft. POC is Page Gough Laurel is also busy and has had to condemn land in order to develop their infrastructure. POC is Dr. John Smith hope that helps, Gary M. Gates, P.E. I thought Laurel Airport may have some similarities but I am not familiar with any other airports outside of the state. Can you think of any other airports that have gone through similar challenges as KCA may be going through? Any help you have on this topic would be appreciated.
