RE: Diamond Aire Gates at the AirportFred, Rich and Charlie, Fred and I talked this morning about the gates. I would like him to proceed with widening of the gates without stipulation before the court. This will effectively destroy and future damage claim of Talmage. I told Fred that I would copy all of you for your input. With regard to his questions, as set forth below, we agreed to let those go for the time being and take care of them should there be a settlement of claims at a later time. Unless you advise otherwise, it is my understanding that Fred will go forward with widening the gate. Thanks. There are two rolling gates, (one on each side, 24’ long) to deal with. Because of the size of each gate (24’) we could add 6’ to each side and have two 30’ rolling gates. These would be clumsy to handle and might take two people to move, but it will give us a 60’ wide opening. Please remember our main runway is only 60’ wide and we never have aircraft landing at this airport that have a wing span that wide. Also, the FAA approved taxiways that run to Diamond Aire are only 25’ wide with 27’ aprons in front of the hangars along the taxiway. So this is more than adequate for any possible clients Diamond Aire might have. Also, we will be putting new tires on these gates so they can be rolled closed at the close of business each day to secure that portion of the security fence. How do you intend on addressing the following: 1. Will the gate be secured each night or will the City have to secure them? 2. Since they don’t have enough room for aircraft to park at their facility, will they be leasing ramp space from the City in front of their facility? 3. Will Diamond Aire be paying anything for this access to a public facility? The airport has five paying commercial clients that are watching to see if Diamond Aire has to pay for access. I can’t afford them jumping ship or refusing to pay their fees over this. 4. Will they be selling fuel again? Is the fuel facility up and operational? This is going to be a $2,000 expenditure, so I would like to know when you recommend I order the work done. Please advise, Fred A. Leistiko Airport Manager City of Kalispell P.O.
