09/04/03 SP City Council MinutesA SPECIAL MEETING OF THE KALISPELL CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD AT 7:08 P.M.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2003, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT CITY HALL IN
KALISPELL, MONTANA. MAYOR PAMELA B. KENNEDY PRESIDED. COUNCIL
MEMBERS JIM ATKINSON, DUANE LARSON, FRED LEISTIKO, HANK OLSON,
JAYSON PETERS AND TED POLER WERE PRESENT. COUNCIL MEMBERS BOB
HAFFERMAN AND RANDY KENYON WERE ABSENT.
Also present: City Manager Chris A. Kukulski, Fire Chief Randy Brodehl and City Clerk Theresa
White.
Mayor Kennedy called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
AGENDA APPROVAL
Leistiko moved approval of the Agenda. The motion was seconded.
There was no discussion.
The motion carried unanimously upon vote.
HEAR THE PUBLIC
None.
Larson moved for ratification of the union contract between the City of Kalispell and the
International Association of Firefighters — Local Union No. 547. The motion was seconded.
Kukulski explained the contract was long time coming but includes some major fundamental
changes, the most important being a shift change which increases personnel available to respond to
EMS and fire calls. He said the contract also includes a six percent raise the first year, which is
already overdue, a four and a half percent pay increase for year two, and a two percent increase for
year three.
Brodehl thanked the Union's negotiating team.
There was discussion concerning the retro pay.
The motion carried unanimously upon roll call vote.
