1. Public Works
Pothole Locations and Repairs
Street Crews are mapping, logging, and patching potholes
created from winter and spring weather conditions. Public
Works encourages citizens to call the office number at: (406)
758-7720 to report potholes in their area. The faster staff can
respond to potholes, even if it is only a temporary fix,
minimizes the deterioration of the road. The potholes are placed
on a list and properly repaired throughout the spring/summer
season.
2. Building Department
In the last 2 weeks, we have issued permits for 5 single-family homes. There have been
42 new single-family/duplex and townhouse units issued for the year, compared to 14 last
year at this time. There have been 0 multi-family housing units issued so far this year.
There were a total of 198 combined building and/or fire inspections completed in the last
2 weeks.

3. Planning
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on April 9, and heard two application
requests. The public hearing consisted of the following:
1. File #KA-24-02 – Cindy and Steven Radosevich have submitted an application
for annexation and initial zoning of RA-1 (Residential Apartment) for property
located at 255 Three Mile Drive at the northwest corner of Three Mile Drive and
North Riding Road. The annexation would allow the property to connect to

municipal sanitary sewer.
2. File #KGPA-24-01; KA-24-03; KPP-24-01 – Frank Garner and MT Seven
Properties have submitted applications for Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail
Crossing, including requests for (1) a growth policy amendment extending the
city annexation boundary to encompass this property; (2) annexation; (3) initial
zoning of R-3 (Residential); and (4) preliminary plat approval for 380 lots on
approximately 110.5 acres, including lots, roads, and common areas. The property
is located on the north side of Tronstad Road between Highway 93 North and
Whitefish Stage Road, opposite Sirucek Lane.
The Commission recommended approval of the two application requests. The
recommendations will be forwarded to the Council for consideration at the May 6
meeting.
4. Community Development
Final quotes are being gathered for the disposal of the underground storage tank
discovered on the 3rd and Main parking lot. Pending this information, Montana
Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and its contractors will establish a work
schedule.
5. Police Department
Attached is the latest law enforcement case report.
Officer Gasner and Officer Stuhler graduated this month from the Montana Law
Enforcement Academy in Helena. They have returned to Kalispell to complete Field
Training.
Officers Chris Olsen, Connor Mckinnon, and Matt Praetzel have left to start the academy
this last week.

6. Fire Department
From March 27 to April 9, the Fire Department had 151 responses. Of these, there were
115 medical incidents, 7 motor vehicle accident with injuries, 8 fire alarm activations, 1
haz-mat incident, 4 public assists, and 15 nothing found or dispatched and canceled
enroute.
Kalispell Fire had a large fire incident on April 10 at the Quality Inn, 1330 Hwy 2 West.
This fire started in a wall and spread into the attic. Crews transitioned to defensive fire
operations using several aerial ladders. Crews were able to successfully protect the
attached casino, restaurant and hotel lobby.
The Fire Chief participated in a recent Study of Flathead County 911 center with APCO
consultants.
The State of Montana Fire Services training school is in town for the week of April 8 to
test and evaluate 3 of our members for Firefighter II certifications. All 3 members passed
their testing and will advance to Firefighter II Status.
All ladders and the aerial ladder truck were tested and certified as part of the annual
inspections.
