1.Parks and Recreation
Forestry crews continue to prune trees in the Northridge and Empire Estates subdivisions.
With the weather being mild, we have been able to begin irrigation repairs at the
Kalispell Youth Athletic Complete (KYAC) that were unable to be completed last fall.
Kidsports is also working with their engineer to complete installation of the new
electronics needed to run both production wells and meet the demand of the north fields
being added to the irrigation system.
Interior painting work at the Depot building will be wrapping up this week. Flooring
installation has started and should wrap up in 2 weeks. HVAC should begin in the next 2
weeks as well. We have also submitted a Montana Historic Preservation Grant to the
Montana Department of Commerce this week for additional funding of the roof
replacement, exterior painting, and gutter installation.
Registration for 7v7 Outdoor Soccer will open in May.
Registration for the Spring Little Dribblers season is now closed. Little Dribblers is
designed to teach the fundamentals of Basketball to 4-year-olds through 4th graders in a
noncompetitive setting. Little Dribblers starts on March 9 and runs on Saturdays for 6
weeks.
We are starting to prepare for summer and are encouraging participants to make sure to
create an account in our new CivicRec registration software
system. Registration for all our summer programs, including
Camp Woodland will open April 15.
Spring Break Camp registration is now open. Camp dates are
March 25 - 29. Cost is $41 per day for out-of-city residents.
Campers will have the opportunity to do some indoor
bouldering at RockFish, explore Lone Pine State Park, play
games, and watch movies.
We are currently seeking sponsorships for the upcoming Picnic
in the Park concert series. Since 1992, The Picnic in the Park
2
summer concerts series has held a long-standing tradition of bringing a
varied genre of great music to its weekly concerts. We offer free concerts on
Tuesday nights and Wednesdays at lunchtime throughout summer in
Kalispell’s downtown Depot Park. This concert series would not be possible
without the dedicated support from local businesses and individuals
throughout the Flathead Valley.
2.Public Works
The Environmental Protection Agency mandates an inventory of water service lines
across the United States to safeguard public health. These lines, responsible for delivering
water from the mains to homes, vary in material composition—commonly copper,
plastic, galvanized, or potentially lead.
As part of our inventory efforts PWs will
be asking residents to kindly take a
moment to complete a service line survey
located here Lead Water Service Line
Inventory (arcgis.com). Advertisements
to encourage survey participation will be
through social media posts, city website
links, mailings and door tags.
The survey information is an essential
piece of information to help identify the
material composition of water service
lines serving residents.
We have a Lead Service Lines webpage for questions and
people can access the survey through the following QR
Code:
