Fwd_ Meeting Public Comment from RochelleFrom:Mountain Streak To:Kalispell Meetings Public Comment Subject:[EXTERNAL] Fwd: Meeting Date:Wednesday, August 5, 2020 8:25:41 AM Dear Montana, I was at a super one supermarket this pasted Friday inKalispell. I walked in with no mask but had one in my purse. I noticed that people were wearing and were not wearing Masks! This lady came up to my brother and I and coughed on us at the store saying she had covid and she hoped we gotit because we were not wearing a mask. Well we had it out,the manager was called It should be our right as healthy citizens to choose to wear a mask or not to wear one. The medical Community knows masks do not protect you so whywear one??? It is all political you know it and we thecitizens know it! Unfortunately, there are many of my fellow conservativeswho see the guidance to wear masks as a direct attack on theirfreedom. Some argue that it’s “my body, my choice,” mimicking the equally illogical pro-abortion slogan. Some claim that masks don’t work. Some see no difference betweenthe forced shutdown of businesses and the use of masks inpublic. Some even believe that masks are part of a conspiratorial attempt to “test the waters” of population control. Whether reasonable or unreasonable, all of these viewpoints suffer from the same flaw, which is that theyrequire the complete dismissal of the necessary partner to freedom - responsibility. Individual freedom is a fundamental pillar of American conservatism and is an ideologically revolutionary concept borne from foundational Judeo-Christian principles. However, individual freedom is not simply a shield to protect us from the fact that our actions can have a direct impact on the lives of others, and thereby impact their equally-valuable individual freedoms. Too often,“freedom” quickly mutates into a relentless libertarianism, where the protection of the claimed rights of one individualsupersedes the same rights of another individual. Speak up America, if you don’t your rights will be taken as free American Citizens! Thank you for your time! Rochelle
