Dear Kalispell City Council,
I am just one of the many educators in the Flathead Valley. The scheduled NorthWest Montana Fair should not take
place this year. As a teacher, I would like in-person instruction to take place come the end of August. The fair would
disrupt that as it ends just four days before the first day of school. This put more than 6,000 students, 700 employees
of SD-5 and their families at risk. The fair also jeopardizes the health and safety of our healthcare workers as the
spread of COVID-19 is passed through contact. The main activities of the fair include the carnival, rodeo, demo
derby, music and relays cannot be managed safely. This is an extremely unsafe and selfish decision for the Flathead
Valley. Not only will it bring Montanans from across the state to the valley, but it jeopardizes the safety and health
of our community.
For the sake of our community and the personal responsibility we have to our neighbors, the NorthWest Montana
Fair must be cancelled.
