Russell, Jim Atkinson, Pastor Scott Thompson
Call to Order:
Rod called the meeting to order at 11:01 AM, on Wednesday May 13, 2020 via Zoom
meeting.
Minutes:
Road made a motion and Gary seconded to approve the April 29, 2020 meeting minutes.
Motion approved unanimous.
New Business:
Rod Update — 80k has been raised by the shelter, but it costs 30k a month to operate.
Fundraising has gone well, but they hope to have enough money for second wave. 20
people currently in the facility. 20-30 people is similar to the warming shelter numbers.
Only housing 20 out of 200 unshelted, or 10% which is failing. Have to wait and see
what the timeline on closing the facility will be. Miriam indicated that the shelter had
coordinated the stimulus checks.
Collaborative Housing Solutions of NW Montana -Steering committee is in place and is
working on update of County 5-year plan to a new 7-year plan. There are 20 affiliated
agencies involved. Will pass on our takeaways from 5-year plan so they can be
incorporated into the new plan. Next meeting is June 9tn
Single Point — There was continued discussion about the need for single point of entry.
There was discussion that United Way had historically taken the roll. Group decided
needed to have the new director in to fully understand the United Ways scope and
whether they were operating as the single point of entry. Rod will reach out to United
Way to schedule time where the new director can answer questions. The community
needs someone who's role is to communicate what is going on.
Community Board — Group discussed need of a community Board. Does the homeless
community know about there options? A community board could direct the population to
the appropriate places. Need for central coordination, boards, database, etc. Need to
figure out if there is a flowchart out there for all the competing niches.
Questionsfor stakeholders —Task force needs to email any questions they have for
stakeholders and Rod will compile them. I.E. —Who monitors database?
