09-15-99 Airport MinutesCity of Kalispell FA'V I ir Gli''111 1 1� I U1 Aix ]��O Minutes from September 15, 1999 Meeting The meeting began at 4:00 p.m. Present were: Mike Baker, Chris Kukulski, P. J. Sorensen and Kathy Kuhlin (staff; Gib Bissell, Fred Leistiko, Keith Robinson, Art Thompson, and Torn weaver. Also present were: Dave Hoerner from Red Eagle Aviation; Bill Hewson from Diamond Aire; Mike Strand front Stand Aviation; and Lori Smith fronn Conrad Burns' office. overlay and Paint - Dick Brady will swap (with the County) our Distributor Truck for overlay work. Tie downs - we need five more sets. The City will put in rebar and mud. This matter needs to be discussed with Jim Flansz. The cost for fog sealing is $3,800. A portion of the airport manager money could be used for this. we need 200 gallons of paint. we have 25 gallons of yellow and 20 of white. we could get more paint from the State. we will need a one inch overlay. The State suggested we should not paint on the day of the overlay. This work needs to be done before winter. The Distributor Truck was planed on the surplus list years ago, and the County is using it right now. The taxi -way and the runway need to be done. Asphalt cost is $21 a ton. Re -survey for stripes was raised, but Mike says no - an experienced asphalt person would mark the stripes before pouring. Citizen's for a Better Flathead wrote an inaccurate, dishonest article about the airport. Gib and Art will respond. Gib and Art will speak at rotary next week about the airport. Conrad Burns spoke with Randall Propelka. we gave them a copy of the Master Plan. Randall previously informed us they will attempt to expedite our project with the F.A.A. and help find appropriation money. Mike Ferguson said to get political. we need to do the 5-1/2 degree realignment. The towers may be out of the picture. If the Feds waive the radio towers, the City can go ahead and begin getting buy/sells. Wait until the FAA gives the go ahead on the towers. The board suggested that Nuke Baker and Chris Kukulski meet with Jinn Trowbridge from Corvallis, Montana (Real Estate/Land Acquisition Consulting Service formerly with the F.A.A. ); Dick weaver of Skilling-Connolly, Inc. in Ronan; and Dave Thornquist (in Lakeside) from Coldwell Banker. Managing Airport - Dave Hoerner voiced his concerns. FBo discussion. Glacier International Airport possibly manage airport - discussion - need to meet with Monte Eliason. Contact other airports where FBo's manage the airport. Dave Floerner and Bill Hewson will meet with Chris and Mike also. Kathy brought up the inactive member on the airport board. She has attempted to contact him both by telephone and certified mail, but has. not been able to reach hire. Her last contact was last winter when he called to say he would not have the time to serve. we need to readvertise the position and Airport Advisory Board Meeting September 15, 1999 Page 2 forward with replacing Mr. Larkin. Art Thompson motioned to go ahead and advertise. Fred Leistiko seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
