09-09-98 Airport MinutesCity of Kalispell Minutes from September 9, 1998 Meeting The meeting began at 4:00 p.m. Present were: Mike Baker, Diana Harrison, Rich Rickel and Kathy Kuhh (staff), Crib B i sseli, Tom Reynolds, Keith Robinson, and Torn weaver. Also present were Lori Smith from the Montana Pilots Association and Dave Hoerner from Red Eagle Aviation. Gib opened the meeting by informing the board there will be an Airport Authority Board/Airport Advisory Board work session on Monday, September 28' at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Morrison-Maierle will be there. Gib has received information from a company in Denver that can reconfigure the radio towers for $400,000, They would nuke the two towers into four towers with 100 foot antennas. There was a meeting on Thursday, September 3 at I :00 p.m. at the Building Department with Gib Bissell, Mike Baker, Diana Harrison, Tire Orthmeyer, Rich Hickel, and Tony Salter. The purpose of the meeting was to go over Phase I of the Master Plan with Morrison- Maierle. Morrison-Maierle said they would follow-up with the FAA. Gib has not heard if that has taken place yet. The Airport Manger Position was discussed and it was decided we will need to meet prior to September 28d' to discuss what we expect a manager to do and then update the Airport Manager Job Description. (That meeting will be Friday, September 18'h at 12 noon at City Hall.) The board decided to ask the Council to proceed with advertising for this position. The log cabin in Lion's Park, previously used by the Chamber office, is available to place at the airport as an office for the Airport Manager. Fencing for the airport was discussed. The Council has budgeted for the fencing, and it was decided to submit a letter to the Council requesting authority to proceed with requests for bids. Fred had stated previously we should make sure that any fencing that the City buys is going to match possible fencing that the FAA proposal may include. We would also need to be sure that fencing and gates are constructed to FAA standards. The Council has budgeted $ l 5,000 for the fencing. The meeting was adjourned at S :30 p.m. A work Session with the Council is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. The next regular meeting will be ''Wednesday, October 14, 1998 at 4:00 p.m. Kathy Kuhlin Recording Secretary
