Re: Selection of Design and Engineering Team for TIGER Trail and Complete
Street Project

BACKGROUND: The City of Kalispell prepared and advertised a Request for Qualifications
soliciting a qualified professional design firm or team to provide professional services for the
design of the Kalispell Trail and Complete Street component of the TIGER grant project. Six
Statements of Qualifications were received from multi -member teams primarily pairing design
firms with engineering professionals. A seven -member selection committee reviewed the
submittals and narrowed from six to four determining which teams would be invited to
interview. Over the past two weeks, four interviews were held. Based on the submitted
Statement of Qualification and interview, the selection committee recommends Alta Planning
and Design with KLJ Engineers for this project.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the selection of Alta
Planning and Design with KLJ Engineers.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Funding for this contract will come from the Westside/Core Area Tax
Increment Financing District as committed under the USDOT TIGER grant as match to the grant
funds.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested and approved by Council.
