H1. Reso 5860 - Parks Fees IncreasesMONTAIVA
REPORT TO: Doug Russell, City Manager3—
City of Kalispell
201 1st Ave E. P.O. Box 1997
Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997
(406) 758-7757 Fax (406) 758-7758
FROM: Chad Fincher, Director, Parks and Recreation
SUBJECT: Parks Facilities & Recreation Fees Increase
MEETING DATE: March 19, 2018
BACKGROUND: Council reviewed and discussed Parks & Recreation's proposed fee
increases at the March 12, 2018 workshop based on a cost and market analysis of our programs.
Careful consideration was given to comprehensive comparisons to similar programs in our
community and region, the benefits and needs of our community, and the viability of the
programs. Additionally, park reservation fees were examined due to increased costs related to
maintenance of rental facilities, foremost being a garbage assessment of $6027 for disposal at the
County Landfill.
Recreation programming fees have not increased since 2016 and park reservations have not
increased since 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT: Anticipated revenue increase to the Parks & Recreation funds to offset
programming and maintenance costs.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that Council approve Resolution 5860, a
resolution amending Resolution 5715 and fixing Park and Recreation Fees to be charged by the
City of Kalispell's Parks and Recreation Department and declaring an effective date.
