Fire Station 61 Renovation Request for QualificationsCity of Kalispell Fire Station 61 Renovation Request for Qualifications The City of Kalispell is seeking qualifications from General Contractors for construction and remodel of the Fire Station 61 located at 312 1" Avenue East, Kalispell. General Project Information The project generally consists of the addition of a second story within the existing apparatus bay for the purpose of a day room, multi -purpose room, fitness area, sleeping quarters, and locker area. The existing quarters will be remodeled into office space with the addition of an elevator to serve a lower level secure reception area. The mechanical and electrical systems will be largely replaced in the affected work area as well. This project is funded by a fixed amount in the form of a Department of Homeland Security Grant. This grant has conditions and reporting requirements to which the selected contractor will be required to adhere. Timeline A pre -bid conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. on June 15, 2010, in the First Floor Conference Room, City Hall, 201 First Avenue East, Kalispell, MT. Statements of Qualifications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on June 25, 2010, at the office of the City Clerk. Five copies must be submitted, addressed to the City Clerk, City Hall, 201 First Avenue East or PO Box 1997, Kalispell, MT, 59903 and clearly identified as a "Statement of Qualifications for the Fire Station 61 Renovation". The City selection panel will review the qualifications and determine a minimum of three and a maximum of five pre -qualified bidders for the project. The selected Contractors will be notified on Friday, July 2. The City's intent is to provide completed plans and specifications at such time for bidding. The City, after consultation with the selected bidders, will set a bid date on or around July 9. Proiect Considerations This project construction will entirely occur within built and currently occupied space. The Fire Department and other occupants of the Public Safety Building must remain in operation with as little disturbance to daily operations as possible. The facility is a 24/7 emergency responder facility and consideration must be given to this reality. Significant demolition and remodel will occur including structural items; successful experience in like -manner construction will be required. With a fixed budget, the City will have specific interest in the Contractors past performance on remodel projects of this nature with regards to change orders, schedule delays, and work quality. Submittal Reauirements The Statement of Qualifications shall include at a minimum: • General information about the firm, firm organization, location, years in business, and Montana license. • Discussion of the firm's applicable experience and qualifications for the City's project including a list of 3-5 past projects of a similar nature and associated references. List any litigation, arbitration, or claims filed as a result of contract dispute or performance within the last 5 years. • A proposed construction schedule and discussion of work sequencing to maintain facility operations. Include a statement about the firm's ability to begin immediately if awarded the project. • Include firm member qualifications and project roles. • Include other qualifications that the firm may feel as pertinent to the project. • In an appendix, include the proof of the firm's ability to bond the project ($1.5m minimum), proof of the firm's general liability policy, as well as appropriate licensure. The City will not reimburse proposers for any cost related to submission of these Statements of Qualifications. Firms are advised that any information, under State law, may be subject to public inspection.
