Chip Seal Project for 2018 Invite to BidChip Seal Project for the Year Ending December 31, 2018 Kalispell, Montana The City of Kalispell, Montana will receive sealed unit price bids for Chip Seal Projects for the year ending December 31, 2018. Project areas are illustrated as attached in this project manual. All associated interior radiuses, intersection turn lane widening, mailbox, turnouts, and parking areas shall be chipped as detailed in project manual. Chip Sealing shall not begin prior June 18, 2018 and shall be completed prior to September 1, 2018. Pavement markings shall be applied not less than 30 calendar days and not more than 45 calendars after the Chip Seal operations are completed. The Contractor shall schedule work to avoid conflicts with community events around July 41h No work shall be permitted on weekends or national holidays. The Contractor shall be responsible to supply, install and remove No Parking signs. Refer to Section 01570 Traffic, Parking and Pedestrian Control, Part 2,2.1.A. for specific information. The successful bidder shall provide the City of Kalispell with acceptable aggregate test results in accordance with Section 02504 prior to beginning construction. The City of Kalispell will be responsible to sweep and remove the excess chips after the chip sealing operations have been completed. Areas requiring pavement markings will be first priority for removal of excess chips, allowing the contractor to start epoxy pavement markings 30 days after chip seal application is complete. The Contractor shall be properly registered at the time of submitting the Bid. The bid security shall be in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount bid. Any such bank instrument shall be payable to the City of Kalispell. If a contract is awarded, the bidder whose bond is accepted and who shall thereafter refuse to enter into and execute the proposed contract, or as stated in the covenant, shall absolutely forfeit such moneys or bank instruments to the City, and become immediately liable on said bid bond in said sum. The bid security shall be returned to the unsuccessful bidders. All bids must expressly covenant that if the bidder is awarded the contract, the bidder shall within fifteen (15) calendar days ofthe acceptance of said bid by the City Council, enter into a contract and give good and sufficient bond to secure the performance oft e terms and conditions oft e contract. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of bids without the consent of the City Council for a perioi of sixty (60) days after the scheduled time of receiving the bids. The successful bidder will be assessed the Montana Contractor's withholding tax. The successful bidder shall be required to furnish to the City evidence of insurance in accordance with th Sixth Edition of the Montana Public Works Standard Specifications.
