Since the short term rental ordinance became effective, we have been tracking the number of units in
the city. As of today, the numbers are as follows:
Identified Units
59
Number of permits issued
10
Number of units with permits pending
6
Number of permits denied
3
Number of units pending review
40
We have sent letters to all 40 of the remaining identified units informing them of the regulations and
the permit requirement. The letters went out in groups from May 25 to August 29. We have received
responses from approximately 11 of the units and are awaiting applications from them.
When an application comes in, there are several steps in our process to ensure that the requirements
the Council approved are satisfied. We have established a process with the Health Department to
ensure that the public accommodation license is applied for, check that they are registered for the bed
tax, and review the site layout for parking availability. We notify the neighbors and provide contact
information for them to get ahold of the operator if there are problems. Additionally, our fire
inspector sets up a fire/life-safety inspection to help ensure that the property is safe.
We will continue to be in touch with the remaining rentals as we move forward with the program in
order to get them through the process and permitted.
