SUBJECT: SID 344, old School Station
DATE: 20 July 2007
The Old School Station project is approaching completion and we are trying to tie up
loose ends related to two items on this project.
You will recall during development of the project we enlarged the water control building
to house communications equipment in a secure environment. This additional equipment room
also eliminated the need for a separate building to house the equipment. Included in this change
was additional conduit surrounding the site for the communication cables. Construction costs for
these items were tallied and those costs were charged against the SID. Engineering costs were
accumulated and are itemized in the attached letter from Morrison. Maierle. These engineering
costs total $18,42 8.00.
The second item is conversion of the OSS test well into a productioM well. The SID
documents identified a singe well for this project. A test well was drilled to validate the location
and yield potential of the production well. After drilling the production well, we decided to
develop the test well as a second production well rather than to let it stay idle. Construction costs
for the development of the test well were collected and are charged to the water fund, not the
SID. Engineering costs for this work were collected and are also noted in Morrison Maierle's
letter. These costs total $32,469.00.
The total of both these items is $ 5 0897.00. This amount exceeds the current project
ceiling for Morrison Maierle's services, An amendment of their contract is needed to authorize
payment for these services. I recommend amending the MM contract to reflect these added
services.
Once the amendment is completed there will be a surplus in the SID 344 account of
approximately $66,000. These funds will provide significant assistance to help complete the

pedestrian facilities on the site. As you will recall, a comprehensive pedestrian sidewalk
throughout the site was originally intended to be part of the SID construction. The sidewalks
adjacent the streets were included and completed but the walkway around the site perimeter was
inadvertently omitted from the construction package. At current asphalt prices, the SID surplus
will allow us to buy enough material for approximately 15,000 LF of 8-foot wide pedestrian
path.

RE: Engineering Contract Amendment for Old School Station (SID 344)
Dear Jim:
The purpose of this letter is to request an engineering contract amendment to our Old

Phase 3 building (civil, architectural, and structural)
changes to accommodate the additional building area to be $15,308
used by the dry utility companies.
