A RESOLUTION FIXING THE LIMITS OF THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF
THE CITY OFFICIALS, SUPERVISORS, AND EMPLOYEES PURSUANT TO TITLE 7,
CHAPTER 4, PART 42, M.C.A., COMMENCING ON THE DATES INDICATED
HEREIN,
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell is a general powers city of the state of Montana and is
authorized by 1M1. C.A. 7-4-4201 to set the compensation and salaries of its elected
and appointed city officers as well as all city employees by resolution of its City
Council; and
WHEREAS, The City of Kalispell employs elected officials, appointed city officers, non -union
employees, seasonal and part-time employees as well as employees represented
by three unions, to -wit: the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal
Employees, Local Union No. 256, the Kalispell Police Association, and the
International Association of Firefighters, Local 547; and
WHEREAS, by ordinance No. 1623, the Kalispell City Council determined that it is in the best
interests of the City and the efficient governance of the City that the
compensation and salaries of the city employees be set from time to time by
resolution of the Kalispell City Council.
Now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The salaries and compensation of City elected officers for the
period beginning July 1, 2007, are hereby established as set out in Exhibit "A",
attached hereto and which, by this reference, is made a part hereof.
Appropriations shall be made to pay same when due.
SECTION II. The salaries and compensation ranges of City appointed officers,
non -union employees and part-time and seasonal employees for the period
beginning July 1, 2007, are hereby established as set out in Exhibit "B", attached
hereto and which, by this reference, is made a part hereof. Appropriations shall
be made to pay same when due.
SECTION III. The compensation schedule of City employees represented by the
American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local Union
No. 256 shall be pursuant to and for the term of the existing collective bargaining
agreement between the City and such Union, which agreement shall be held, of
record, in the office of the City Clerk. Appropriations shall be made to pay same
when due.
SECTION IV. The compensation schedule of City employees represented by the
Kalispell Police Association shall be pursuant to and for the term of the existing
collective bargaining agreement between the City and such Union, which
agreement shall be held, of record, in the office of the City Clerk. Appropriations
shall be made to pay same when due.
SECTION V. The compensation schedule of City employees represented by the
International Association of Firefighters, Local 547 shall be pursuant to and for
the terra of the existing collective bargaining agreement between the City and
such Union, which agreement shall be held, of record, in the office of the City
Clerk. Appropriations shall be made to pay same when due.
SECTION VI. This Resolution shall become effective on the effective date of
Ordinance 1623.

How to use:
The pay range for each seasonal position in the parks and recreation department is identifed
on the Seasonal Pay Schedule. Each position starts out in the assigned range and step 1.
When a person returns the following year, the person would move up 1 step in the same range.
If a division is to hire a person with previous experience, they may receive credit for those
documented years and move up in steps in the assigned range. If a person changes positions
within the department, the person will be credited for the years of service they have within the
parks and recreation department and move up in steps in the assigned range.
