10/20/12 - Red Ribbon WeekWHEREAS, the City of Kalispell, Montana values the health and safety of all our citizens; and WHEREAS, substance abuse is particularly damaging to one of our most valuable resources, our children, and a contributing factor in the three leading causes of death for teenagers — accidents, homicides, and suicides; and WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Flathead CARE Red Ribbon Campaign to involve families, schools, businesses, churches, law enforcement agencies, and service organizations in all aspects of this campaign and establish an atmosphere that supports awareness, education, and on -going initiatives to prevent illegal alcohol, tobacco, and drug use; and WHEREAS, the Flathead CARE Red Ribbon Campaign theme promotes family and individual responsibility for living healthy, tobacco, and drug -free lifestyles; and WHEREAS, there are many activities planned during the Red Ribbon Campaign in and around the City of Kalispell. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Tammi Fisher, Mayor of the City of Kalispell, Flathead County, Montana do hereby proclaim October 20 through October 28, 2012 as 1,119111 in the City of Kalispell and urge all citizens to join in the week's activities and to work all year long to protect our community from the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
