04/04 - Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness MonthPROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell prides itself on giving back to the community, contributing to the quality of
life among our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Flathead County CASA for Kids program, in association with the National Court Appointed
Special Advocate (CASA) Association, speaks for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are involved
in our Court system; and
WHEREAS, each year, in Flathead County alone, more than 50 children are confinned to have suffcred abuse or
neglect; and
WHEREAS, through a national effort, Flathead County and City of Kalispell community members are
encouraged to join together to raise awareness for those children who are victims of abuse and neglect throughout the
month of April; and
WHEREAS, this effort will give abused and neglected children in our community, and around the country, a
chance for a safe and positive future;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pamela B. Kennedy, Mayor of the City of Kalispell, Flathead County, Montana, do
hereby proclaim April, 2004 as
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND AWARENESS MONTH
and urge all citizens to join in the national effort to raise awareness and help prevent child abuse and neglect.
