SUBJECT: Appointment to the Flathead County Solid Waste District Board
BACKGROUND: Council member Tim Kluesner was appointed to The Flathead County Solid
Waste District Board on June 20, 2016, to replace former city of Kalispell representative Hank
Olson on the seven member board. The term will expire on December 31, 2016.
The mission statement of the Board of Directors and the employees of the Flathead County Solid
Waste District are to provide environmentally sound and cost-effective refuse collection, disposal
and recycling opportunities for Flathead County residents and businesses. Waste District facilities
are a major part of the economic and environmental infrastructure of Flathead County. Long
range planning and fiscal integrity ensures decades of capacity with minimal financial impacts to
Flathead County citizens.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Mayor recommend a Council member and that the Council
adopts his recommendation as a nominee for appointment by the County Commission to the
Flathead County Solid Waste District Board.
