Police Chief Hiring Update FETING ATE August 14, 2006 BACKGROUND: Council requested that preference be given to hiring the next police Chief from inside the Department. Staff posted an in-house vacancy announcement which closed Wednesday, August 91h, Three resumes have been received; Scott 'mall, Roger Nasset, and v ade Rademacher. I have scheduled interviews tentatively for August 25 th. The interview committee currently consists of: the City .manager; City Attorney, Tom. Osborne (our Police Consultant (resume attached) who has been on the past two Chief selection committees as well as numerous Police hiring and promotion interview committees), Bob Birch (Chair of the Police Advisory Council), Robyn Balcorn (Police Advisory Council), and the .Police Chief from Bozeman. The HR Manager will be an x-officio member to insure the process and interviews are: ,properly followed. Questions have been formulated to assess the following leadership criteria: Leadership Credibility, Relevant Experience, Prior Performance, Initiative, versatility, Conunu .i.cation Skills, Sense of Mission., Judgment and Decision making, , Creativity, and Motivation.
