Annual Board and Committee Appointments
MEETING DATE: May 2, 2016
BACKGROUND: Staggered terms on the various City of Kalispell citizen advisory boards and
committees expired April 30, 2016. Several boards also have ongoing vacancies. Notice of board
openings was provided to the public through the city website and all media outlets, including two
quarter page advertisements in the Daily Inter Lake. All applicants, whether reapplying or new,
were asked to fill out an online, fillable application to help streamline the appointment process.
The Mayor, with the consent and advice of the Council shall make board appointments. Most of
the appointments took place during the April 18, 2016 Council meeting; however several were
delayed awaiting additional applicants. The following boards are now ready for Mayoral
appointment, or have been listed here to inform the public what boards still have ongoing
vacancies. Please see the following board list, with hyperlinks to each board's webpage. Please
refer to the webpage for descriptions regarding the purpose, membership requirements and term
lengths of the individual boards, and their current board members. Membership requirements
have been verified for all applicants. Staff will continue to recruit and accept applications
throughout the year for all boards and committees who have ongoing vacancies or positions that
are not appointed by the Mayor at this time.

I have two elm trees on the boulevard in front of my house and knowing about them and
Dutch Elm Disease initially led me to interest in the Street Tree Commission. Since
joining the board in 2009, 1 have learned the challenges Kalispell has in caring for their
trees, but also the strengths the city has in moving forward.

or commission:
I have lived in Kalispell since 1981 and am a lifelong Flathead Valley resident. I have
written articles for the newspaper concerning trees in conjunction with the Street Tree
Commission. I have been consistent in my attendance for Board Meetings, and have
participated in activities that promote awareness of the Board and trees in the
communities.

As a local citizen and home owner, I'm interested in helping our community grow in
tourism, recreation, economy and while preserving the history and heritage of the area

I currently run a state-wide volunteer program on the Continental Divide Trail. I hope this
recreational feature in our state becomes a draw for visitors, but more importantly, helps
to boost small communities through tourism/recreation resulting in more economic
growth. I have a breadth of background in marketing/graphic design, grant -writing, public
speaking, grassroots organizing and community engagement. I hope to put these skills to
use for the Urban Renewal Board to make Kalispell a better destination location.

enjoy living in the Flathead Valley and want to be involved in plans that impact our city
when it comes to development and expansion of our community. I think it is important to
stay involved in your community and assist in make decisions that help the community
remain vibrant for future generations.

I graduated from Flathead HS in 2004 and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 2009
with a Bachelors of Arts Degree. My major was Economic Finance and I minored in
Business Administration. I am currently a Real Estate Lender with Glacier Bank and
have been working at Financial institutions in the valley for over 5 years now. I have
extensive knowledge when it comes to our current real estate market, as well as current
mortgage rates and trends due to my current employment.
