I want to continue to serve as a reasoned voice of experience in planning and development. My service on this board has illustrated how valuable it is to have a sound understanding of the changing laws, neighborhood and growth objectives and importance of their impact upon the citizens of Kalispell. Now, driven by the unique nature of the upcoming and present development of the CORE district and the demands of other exceptional opportunities for the city of Kalispell, it is an excellent time to continue to serve on the Board and I am experienced, knowledgeable and interested in doing so. I believe in service and I think to serve the needs of applicant, citizens and the city by providing fair and balanced analysis of each project is how I have performed in the past and how I will continue to do so, in the future, if I am reappointed. It is vital for applicants and staff to know a fair person with experience is listening and understanding the objectives. Detail any education, knowledge, or experience you have which would be beneficial to this board, committee or commission: As the only Main Street property owner and business person presently serving on this board, I bring a particular perspective. Presently, I am the Board Member Subject Expert for the Planning Board on one of our working topics which is vacation rentals, outside of commercial business districts, but within residential districts — a potentially controversial subject but requiring our Board's attention. As a long time Kalispell resident, my knowledge of Kalispell history and its citizens has been appreciated. like bringing parties together over contentious issues. When the hospital brought a project to the Board and was met at our meeting by upset neighbors, I took the opportunity to encourage the Kalispell Regional Hospital to meet with its neighbors to allay their fears. This was a good moment for both parties to find common ground and it diffused what could have been a hostile meeting. The hospital made the effort and when this project left our Board and rested with City Council; it was met with little or no neighborhood opposition. When City Council asked our Board to review the casino issue; it was a thoughtful exercise for our board. We had differing views and we had strong participation from certain individuals in the community; however, I believe we respected all views and carved out good recommendations for the City Council. I enjoyed that hard work as a Board Member on this issue. I'm never opposed to taking the time to get it right. As Past President of the Soroptimists, Past Senior State C.A.R President, former St. Matthew's School Board Member, Past Chairman of the City of Kalispell Impact Fee Committee and as a present board member of the City of Kalispell Planning Board; I believe in community and organizational service. It always benefits the community and its always local. Lastly, to me, it remains a requirement to do the homework, read the packet, visit the project site and I have always been prepared for each meeting by operating under those guidelines. This Board much like the Impact Fee Committee requires a significant amount of personal time and commitment which I have made. I am graduate of Flathead High School and Gonzaga University. Go Zags!
