Resolution 5751 - EMS FeesRESOLUTION NO.5751
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5352 SETTING THE FEES FOR EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF KALISPELL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell Fire Department maintains an emergency medical service that provides
treatment and transport of the sick and injured residents and nonresidents of the city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell currently charges the recipients of these services based upon a rate
structure adopted by the City Council when it passed Resolution No. 5352 on April 6, 2009;
and
WHEREAS, from time to time, due to increases in costs for fuel, wages and medical supplies, it is
advisable to revise the rates that are charged for emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, the current fee schedule does not generate the revenue to pay all of the expenses of operating
and maintaining the emergency medical services and therefore an annual transfer from the
general fund, primarily generated by city property taxes, is made to pay the deficit; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell does not currently charge a higher fee for its emergency medical
services to recipients of these services who are not city residents who contribute to the
general fund; and
WHEREAS, it is equitable and fiscally prudent to charge a higher fee to recipients of Kalispell City Fire
Department emergency medical services who are not city residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That Resolution No. 5352 is hereby amended as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached
hereto and incorporated fully herein by this reference.
SECTIONII. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the City
Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY
