The Fire Department gave six fire extinguisher demonstrations with live bums and answered thirty-five tall grass and weed complaints. Most of the fire hydrants have been flowed. The Fire Department is now in the process of color -coding each hydrant. The Fire Department did thirty-four car seat safety checks. Arvin T. Airport Study. Work continues on FAA study. Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Monthly Activity Report for August 2001 FROM: James Hansz, Public Works DATE: September 13, 2001 Highlights of monthly activity forthe operating divisions of the Public Works Department for the month of August 2001 are as follows: Met with representatives of DNRC to discuss utility issues related to Section 36. Met with City Manager and Bucky Wolford to discuss issues related to the proposed Glacier Mall development. Met with Fire Chief and CED Director to review actions necessary to the demolition of the Keno Inn. Continued assistance to Fire Department to construct a fire apparatus test site near the WWTP. 0 Arranged for ISCO to conduct a calibration of the new flow meter at the WWTP to identify whether it is registering properly. Results indicate the meter is accurate and the plant flow is approximately 20% greater than previously thought. 0 Attended a Transportation Seminar in Missoula sponsored by Sen. Baucus and Rep. Rehberg. 0 Met with Kiwanis to present information and answer questions about the Streetscape Project. 0 Continued support of Community Economic Development Infrastructure Subcommittee to update the Kalispell plan. 0 Continued project review meetings for Sunny View Lane SID. 0 Attended MDOT Highway 93 South utility task force meeting to discuss utility installation and relocation. 0 Worked with a Consultant to develop a pavement management system. 0 Continued working with the Engineer and Contractor on the Mountain View Development infrastructure. 0 Continued development of final Facility Plan document and rolling in changes resulting from new projects and WWTP flow data revisions. 0 Continued development of the Claremont Street sidewalk project. 0 Conducted utility update field surveys in the following areas: Village Greens and North Main Street. 0 Researched, located and marked property pins on east and south boundaries of the Airport for the Parks Department. 0 Conducted sealed bid process for "Dual Frequency GPS System". ENGINEERING DIVISION continued... 0 Responded to miscellaneous R/W questions and requests. 0 Obtained current, approximate, centerline road digital files from County, modified these for use by pavement management software, plotted two worksheets and forwarded all to pavement management pilot project. CENTRAL GARAGE continued... Rebuilt main broom on the mobile sweeper. Repaired pickup head and curtains on Tymco Sweeper. Repaired auto grease system on the garbage truck. Repaired pump drive belt on sewer jet truck. Replaced lift cylinder and attaching parts on the garbage truck. SANITARY/STORM SEWER DIVISON 0 Continued video and jet cleaning of sewer lines Monday through Thursday. 0 Performed weekly maintenance of sixteen lift stations each Friday. SOLID WASTE DIVISION 0 Delivered 15 containers to new customers: 1-90 gallon, 14 -100 gallon, 0 -400 gallon, 0 -300 gallon. 0 Repaired 6 containers and responded to 8 violations. 0 Continued weekly garbage service and alley cleanup. WATER DIVISION WATER PRODUCTION & STORAGE: 0 Produced 183 M gallons of water: 47 M gallons upper zone and 136 M gallons lower zone. 0 Injected 625 gallons of sodium hypochlorite, 12% solution to maintain an average chlorine residual of 0.34 PPM throughout the system. 0 Continued routine maintenance on all pumps, motors, chlorination equipment, grounds, buildings, controls, testing, and record keeping. 0 Reviewed, commented, and met with Roger Noble on O & M Manual for Noffsinger Spring. 0 Received shipment of 1230 gallons of sodium hypochlorite.
