2. Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Update on Sunny View Reconstruction Project MEETING DATE: September 10, 2001 BACKGROUND: City Staff has been working on cost estimates associated with the reconstruction of two hundred and fifty feet of Sunny View Lane between Glacier Drive and Grandview Drive. One details the costs pertaining to reconstruction of Sunny View Lane from Glacier View Drive to Grandview Drive with the second detailing improvement costs from Glacier View Drive to Grandview Drive and the intersection. The estimates were presented at a Neighborhood Meeting Wednesday night. Residents requested, rather than estimates, an actual bid from the engineers and contractors. The neighborhood is seriously considering privately funding this project which would avoid an SID and allow the project to be completed by this fall. A second neighborhood meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at City Hall. We expect to have the actual bid by then, which should allow the homeowners to make a final decision on how to move forward with the project. I have committed the City to pay for the costs of asphalt on this section of road, consistent with how the west end of Sunnyview was handled (less than $20,000). I have also approached the hospital and they will be getting back to me on their willingness to contribute to the project. In addition, Ray Thompson has indicated he will fund a disproportionate share of the project. Respectively submitted, Chris A.
