Arbor Day Sub Committee:
The group reviewed and finalized plans for the upcoming Arbor Day celebration at Lawrence
Park. Discussion included arrival times of students and the importance of the Elrod bus with the
high school student assistants arriving first to greet the other classes. Bette noted what press she
had spoken to, had invited and were expected to attend. Barb Anderson, 3rd grade teacher from
Elrod joined the group and brought information to the group from other teachers. Barb stated
she would like to be on the Arbor Day Sub Committee next year when she retires. Barb also
informed the members that the 3rd grade teachers from the rural schools would have liked to
participate. Barb informed the group that School District 95 teachers were working with
students to memorize the poem they had received and would like another email with more
specifics and details, as to division of groups, booth rotation schedule, etc. Members agreed to
send an email with all pertinent information (booth maps, schedule, names of high school student
assistants, etc.) and specifics to the teachers. Barb told the board that the teachers are very happy
with this Arbor Day plan, as it will bring together so many children at once, instead of one or
two classrooms, rotating through the elementary schools. Fred asked Barb to lead the poem with
her classroom, to which she agreed. Brock told the group his class has made elm wood signs for
each classroom's Arbor Day trees and mounted them on rebar. Last minute details, logistics and
duties were addressed and/or assigned. Members agreed to meet at the park at 7:30 am the day
of the event.
Tree Citv USA Presentation:
Lisa informed the group that Andrea couldn't make the meeting however has volunteered to
make the presentation speech before council on April 20, 2015. Lisa told members she will send
out the presentation via email, as soon as revisions are completed. Lisa volunteered to bring the
Tree City USA flag and portal signs for members to present. Brock volunteered to have FHS
wood shop students present elm wood projects. Lisa informed board members that someone
may need to read the Arbor Day proclamation should the mayor opt out.
Trees To Paper to Trees Spring RecyclingDrive:
rive:
Bette reported amounts collected on the recycling drive: 5000 lbs newspaper, 800 lbs cardboard,
568 lbs tin & aluminum and should receive a check for $227.00. Bette submitted the Daily
Interlake advertisements for all to review. Bette stated that she had written thank you's to all
sponsors and she will submit the information for the thank you ad that will run in the Daily
Interlake. Lisa reported that park crew personnel had delivered 231 lbs of aluminum and
received $99.33 in cash, which has been deposited. Members agreed that the plastics recycling

Board Member Vacancies and Applications:
The group briefly discussed the applications submitted for the upcoming vacancies due to Lance
leaving the board and Dave's term expiring. All members present agreed that all the applicants
have really good backgrounds and would be a good fit. It was agreed that regardless of which
person was appointed, those not appointed should be invited to participant in the meetings as a
non -voting member.
Next Meeting:
Lisa reminded members that they have previously decided not to have a meeting in May and to
participate in a field trip to Brock's FHS Woods Shop classroom. This field trip was previously
scheduled for May 12, 2015 at 9 a.m.
There was no other discussion. The meeting adjourned at 4:58 p.m.
