MITIGATION PLAN — 2014 UPDATE" AS APPROVED BY THE MONTANA DEPARTMENT
OF EMERGENCY SERVICES AND THE FEDERAL
WHEREAS, Federal Law PL 106-390 "Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000" requires local governments
to adopt a Pre -Disaster Mitigation Plan in order to be eligible for hazard mitigation
funding from the federal government; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell is a municipal corporation and local government of the State of
Montana located and operating within Flathead County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell has cooperatively worked with Flathead County Disaster and
Emergency Services to update a county -wide Pre -Disaster Mitigation Plan that will serve
the needs of the local governments of the City of Kalispell and Flathead County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kalispell supports the 2014 Update to the Flathead County Pre -Disaster
Mitigation Plan that was submitted to and approved by the Montana Department of
Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a logical means
of protecting people and property from the potential devastating effects of natural and
man-made hazards.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL
ASFOLLO
SECTION 1. That the Kalispell City Council hereby adopts the "Flathead County, Montana
Pre -Disaster Mitigation Plan — 2014 Update" as approved by the Montana
Department of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management
Agency.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall maintain a copy of said plan on file in City Records to be
made available to the public upon request.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR OF THE
CITY OF KALISPELL THIS 17th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2014.
