08. Ordinance 1256 - Stop Signs - 1st Reading0 0 i AGENDA ITEM 8 - STOP SIGNS -ORDINANCE 1256-1st Reading BACKGROUND/CONSIDERATION: This ordinance is proposed as a "clean- up" ordinance amendment. The Stop Sign locations have previously had signs erected. This ordinance will "legalize" the sign. RECOMMENDATION: To complete the legal process for Stop Sign Regulations, I recommend the ordinance be approved. ACTION REQUIRED: This is the normal ordinance procedure. The first reading should be completed at this meeting. It i AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS AT INTERSECTIONS OF 7T$ AVENUE WEST NORTH AND WEST WYOMING; WEST ARIZONA AND 5TE AVENUE WEST NORTH; 13T8 AVENUE WEST AND 71 STREET WEST; 1ST AVENUE EAST NORTH AND RAILROAD TRACKS; 3m AVENUE EAST NORTH AND RAILROAD TRACKS; ALBINA STREET AND WOODLAND AVENUE; PARKWAY AND 4 MILE DRIVE; 1ST AVENUE WEST AND 11TR STREET WEST, ESTABLISHING A PENALTY, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That vehicles, including motor vehicles, bicycles, or other vehicles shall be required to stop: A) In the East and West bound lanes of West Wyoming at the intersection with 7th Avenue West North; B) In the West bound lane of West Arizona at the intersection with 5th Avenue West North; C) In the North and South bound lane of 13th Avenue West at the intersection with 7th Street West; D) In the West bound lane of a private drive located at 1st Avenue East North and the railroad tracks; E) In the East bound lane of a private drive located at 3ra Avenue East North and the railroad tracks; F) In the East bound lane of Albina Street at the intersection with Woodland Avenue; G) In the North bound lane of Parkway Drive at the intersection with 4 Mile Drive; H) In both the North and South bound lane of 1st Avenue West at the intersection with 11th Street; and I) In both the East and West bound lane of 11th Street at the intersection with 1st Avenue West. ACTION-11 The Chief of Police is authorized and directed to erect stop signs at the above locations. 1. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined or imprisoned in accordance with Section 1-9 of Kalispell City Code. This Ordinance shall become effective 30 days from and after its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR THIS — DAY OF 1 1997.
