This grant, in the amount of$36,60U.O0, is a 1O096federal share and nomatching funds are required. These grant funds are tobrutilized for the purchase of personal protective gear and communication headsets for the Kalispell Police Department's Special Response Team. The request for new protective gear isdue tuthe current gear being beyond the recommended deployment life. The request for new headsets istwofold; the current headsets are not dependable and the police department is starting to replace the current XT55O00portable radio with the AP%6O00. The current headsets are not compatible with the APXGUOOradio. Itisrecommended the city council accept the FY2014Homeland Security Grant in the amount of $36,600.00 for protective gear and communication headsets. FISCAL EFFECTS: Nulocal match required. Equipment purchases allowed through this grant will minimize the necessity to purchase this equipment through General Fund Assuggested bvcity council.
