AGENDA ITEM 8 - RESOLUTION 4376-STOP SIGNS AT 3'D AVENUE WEST NORTH
AND WASHINGTON STREET
BACKGROUND/CONSIDERATION: As per the request of Council Member Nystul, the Police
Chief and the Public Works Director have reviewed and analyzed the intersection of 3rd Avenue West
North and Washington Street. The review confirms that stops are warranted. According to the
MUTCD, vision problems, accident history, and intersections of certain major/minor streets justify
installation of stop signs to control the intersection. This resolution will authorize stops on 31
Avenue West North. With the new signs at Washington on 1' and 2TM', this intersection has become
increasingly important to control. A recent accident history check 'reveals 4 accidents at this corner
within the last 18 months.
RECOMMENDATION: Based upon the history, current conditions, and the recommendation of
the Police Chief and DPW, I recommend approval of the installation of these stop signs.
ACTION REQUIRED: Approval of RESOLUTION 4376 will authorize these stop sign
installations.
