5. Review of Bids - Center Street Pedestrian Improvements ProjectAgenda -September 2, 1997
AGENDA ITEM 5 - REVIEW OF BIDS -CENTER STREET PEDESTRIAN
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
BACKGROUND/CONSIDERATION: On August 19th we received the bids for
this project. The low bids were:
Base Bid $79,659.25
Alternate 1 $15,629.25
The combination of the bids, the Engineer inspection cost of
$12,746.00, and the purchase of the lights, controls, poles and
appurtenances is estimated at $37,181.00. This is a total of
$145,221.50.
Our budget for this project was $140,000. We will be able to
utilize approximately $5,000 from the TIF budget designated for
signals at other intersections. This would allow us to complete
the entire improvement now.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that we do the entire project at this
time - both the crosswalks and the signals.
ACTION REQUIRED: A MOTION to approve both of the bids received
from Montana Lines and will authorize the staff to prepare for the
actual construction of this project. We hope to have the project
completed prior to winter weather.
