TO: Clarence Krepps, City
FROM: Public Works Depart ent
RE: Downtown Tax Incre ewa k Rep ment Project / Bid Analysis and
Recommendation.
Bids were received from Sandon Construction and Pack and Company. Both bids were in order
and contained the required Bid Bond. Sixteen individual sites were included in the bid. The
numerical order of the sites is consistent with the established order of priority. ( Site 1 being the
highest priority and Site 16 the lowest priority)
Sandon's total bid for the sixteen sites amounted to $87,589.00. Pack's total bid for the Sixteen
sites amounted to $104,000.00. The approved budget for this project is $75,000.00. The low bid
of $87,589.00 is $12,589.00 over budget. Without exceeding the approved budget for this project
Thirteen sites can be completed by Sandon and Eleven sites can be completed by Pack.
A Supplemental Bid was included in the Contract to enable the owners of property adjacent to the
project sites the opportunity to have abutting sections of their walkways repaired in conjunction
with this project. The Supplemental Bid establishes fixed prices for this work. The prices quoted
t in the Supplemental Bid are consistent for this type of work. The property owner will pay the
Contractor directly for this work.
The Public Works Department recommends the bid for the Downtown Tax Increment Sidewalk
Replacement Project be awarded to Sandon Construction to complete Thirteen sites in the
amount of $71,564.00. The $3,436.00 remaining within the budget is not sufficient to complete
any additional sites. It is also recommended that Sandon's Supplemental Bid be acknowledged.
