BACKGROUND/CONSIDERATION: The Police Department has received a
grant of $12,850 from the Department of Justice COPS Grant Funds.
This grant is a 100% grant and will enable us to purchase needed
equipment for the Police Department. Chief Clark will be at the
meeting to answer questions concerning this grant.
RECOMMENDATION: This grant upgrades the equipment of the Police
Department and will purchase equipment that will alleviate higher
increases in our operating budget. I highly recommend approval of
this resolution to legalize the expenditures of the Federal Grant
dollars.
ACTION REQUIRED: APPROVAL of the resolution is required to "budget"
this expenditure.

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, MONTANA, AS SET FORTH IN THE 1996-97 BUDGET ADOPTED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANTS
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the annual appropriation for the Local Law Enforcement
Block Grants Program is a federal grant received
subsequent -to the adoption of the Fiscal 1997 budget, in
accordance with M.C.A. 7-6-4120, and
WHEREAS, the source of funds

is federal money passed through the
Justice in the amount of $12,850.00,
WHEREAS, the Kalispell Police Department is a recipient of a Local
Law Enforcement Block Grants Program award, and
WHEREAS, the appropriate fund would be a Special Revenue fund,
2918 Local Law Enforcement Block Grants with the
appropriate expenditure line item for Capital Equipment
purchases for the Kalispell Police Department, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL FOLLOWS:
SECTION. That the appropriation for the Local Law
Enforcement Block Grants Program in the amount
of $12,850.00 be granted.
SECTION TI. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage by the City
Council.
