Dear Clarence,
Lauren Granmo
Due to the unseasonably wet Spring, the ground
Ward III
water level at the Lawrence Park Pond is approximately
Pamela B. Kennedy
two feet (2') above normal. After meeting with the MDT,
Ward IV
engineers, and the contractor, it was recommended that
M. Duane Larson
we proceed with the project on schedule.
Ward IV
The contractor is dealing with additional amounts
of muck excavation, approximately 5,412 CY. This is a
hardship, and a very costly addition to the project.
MDT recommended the following Change Order, resulting in
a $2,436.00 expenditure from the City.
The Wetlands project is a high priority with the
Friends of Lawrence Park. They are in favor of
utilizing Lawrence Park improvement dollars to
accommodate the change order.
If further information is needed, please feel free
to contact me.

You are hereby directed to perform the following work, constituting changes in the approval
contract. The Highway Division will not be liable for any work not provided for in the contract, and
performed prior to the approval thereof.
WORK DESCRIPTION
The 1996/97 winter season has been much wetter than normal. Due to the higher than
anticipated water table, additional Muck Excavation is required. Muck Excavation will be defined
by the elevation at which it is no longer possible to excavate material using a bulldozer. This
elevation shall be 2, 934.00 , as agreed upon by the City and the Contractor.
To reduce the quantity of additional Muck Excavation, grade the Deep Water Area shown on the
grading plan to an average finish elevation of 2929.5'. Vary bottom elevation +/-12"
The payment shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, tools, equipment, materials and
incidentals necessary to complete the work.
