Nystul Re: Highway 93 South Water and Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project Ward I Engineering Contract Cliff Collins Ward 1 This memo is to recommend the City Council award the engineering contract for the Norbert F. Donahue Highway 93 South Water and Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project to the joint Ward II venture of Forsgren Associates and Carver Engineering. Dale Haarr Ward II We initially budgeted $100,000 for a scope of work to include design for the Jim Atkinson following: Ward III • water and sanitary sewer main extensions in Highway 93 from Ranch and Home Lauren Granmo Supply to Four Corners, Ward III • a sanitary sewer main extension from Kelly Road across Highway 93 to the east Pamela B. Kennedy edge of the Airport runway and Ward IV • a water main extension/replacement in Highway 93 from 1st Avenue East to M. Duane Larson approximately 9th Street and west in loth Street to 1st Avenue East. Ward IV The scope of work evolved during contract negotiations to include all of the above plus design for the following: An additional 1400 feet of cast iron water main will be replaced in Highway 93 between the Armory well and 1st Avenue East. Given that this 35 year old main would be under the widened highway, we intend to have a new PVC main installed behind the curb. • Five existing water and sanitary sewer main crossings will be replaced at 1 lth, 13th and 18th Streets and at 1 st Avenue East. • MDT's design for storm sewer improvements will be expanded to provide additional capacity for properties along the new highway. We have negotiated a fee of $121,000 for the total design package. We believe the extra amount should be covered by an appropriation of $21,000 from the Storm Sewer Fund, which has a current a balance of $417,000. Design work will proceed immediately. The schedule calls for plans to be completed by the end of June. Construction should begin in the summer of 1999. Construction Management services have not been negotiated as part of this design contract. However, hourly rates for Construction Management services are defined in this contract. A "cost not to exceed" addendum will be negotiated after the construction contract award.
