COMMENTS FOR MONTH OF AUGUST, 1996
BuildingActivity
Permits were issued for a dozen single family homes. Additionally, permits were issued
for four foundations upon which single family manufactured homes will be placed.
Permits were issued for two duplexes both will be located in the city limits.
On the commercial side, the permit was issued for the 6,000 square foot Applebee's
Restaurant on the west bank of the Stillwater River on Montana Hwy. 35. A permit was
issued to ABC Copiers for a new building to be built behind his existing building and a
permit was issued to construct a mini -storage building in the LaSalle Industrial Park.
Zonin
There were six variance requests heard in the month of August. Four of these requests
were granted, one was denied, and one other was tabled until the September meeting.
Three of the variances that were granted, were to encroach into required side yard setback
areas. The fourth variance that was granted, was to allow parking spaces to be within the
side yard setback for a project in the H-1 zone. A variance request for a sign to exceed
maximum square footage was denied. The fifth variance was tabled until the September
meeting so that more information could be gathered.
Four sign permits were issued in August.

3. Benchmark Construction - 1060 N. Meridian Rd.
4. Eagle Home Center - 228 Main Street
Held three neighborhood meetings with the residents of the South Woodland/Greenacres
area to discuss a neighborhood plan and the proposed annexation of their neighborhood.
These meetings were conducted by Narda Wilson of Flathead Regional Development
Office, Diana Harrison, Zoning Administrator and various other city staff.
The Zoning Administrator has been working on the proposed Greenacres Annexation, the
Kalispell City Airport, and various other projects that have come to the Site Review
Committee.
